體圓而側扁呈銀色，上部帶有綠色的金色光澤；體側具垂直深灰色條紋，通常是從上到下直的，而有些則是彎曲的；眼睛後面有是有個有深色斑點，這種斑點並不總是存在，這種斑點的出現或消失取決於魚的心情；有一個紅色的臀鰭，鉤在尖端；胸鰭顏色微紅，但其餘鰭通常是透明的。分佈于南美洲巴西亞馬遜河中游流域的卡皮魯河。
