華鰁為江河、湖泊中常見魚類，一般生活在水流緩慢的中下層水體，常棲息於水質澄清、底層多泥沙的流動或靜止的水域中。食性雜，用下頜刮食附著在礫石上的底棲無脊椎動物、著生藻類、植物碎屑及水生昆蟲。幼魚喜食搖蚊幼蟲。分佈于中國、韓國、朝鮮、俄羅斯。
