豹紋紅蝴蝶是普通紅蝴蝶的改良品種，原產於印度。
豹紋紅蝴蝶葉片多為粉紅色，不僅薄而且非常柔軟，葉脈呈白色，兩者對比非常強烈，看上去就像帶有花紋的紅色蝴蝶一般，這也是其名字的來歷。豹紋紅蝴蝶在水中時，葉片顏色會隨著光質及水質的不同，而有若干差異，主要是葉子裏面的花青素、葉綠素及胡蘿蔔素三種色素的濃度組成來決定。三種色素所占比例不同時，其顏色自然不同。
