卡瑞爾帝王虎斑菠蘿魚來自委內瑞拉的Rio Ventuari。
卡瑞爾菠蘿在開始發色後非常穩定，不遇到很嚴重的疾病，基本上不會褪色，所以觀賞價值很高。卡瑞爾菠蘿性格較溫和，可以與大小體積差不多的南美魚混養，偶爾在同種魚會有些爭鬥，多只飼養的時候會減少爭鬥。不建議與燈魚等小型魚的混養，容易被當做食物。
