將軍蟹（無齒螳臂相手蟹）並不無恥，“無齒”指的是背甲左右靠近眼睛的地方（前側緣）沒有鋸齒狀的突起。一般穴居於近海淡水河流的泥岸上或在近岸的沼澤中，可見於草澤邊緣、田梗、排水溝邊，通常隱藏於石塊間或於垂直的士壁掘洞而居。晨昏或夜晚是它們活動時間，有時會潛入田裡，以其大螯剪斷秧苗，所以有“稻田殺手蟹”的稱號。
