貝殼捕蠅草是一種全年貼地生長的小型短齒系捕蠅草，捕獸夾僅有三釐米左右。由於夾子圓而厚實，關閉起來仿佛貝殼一般。在成株後齒會呈現標準短齒系的短粗“圓錐形”特徵，捕獸夾內側在充足光照和較大的溫差下可以變得血紅，配上植株的淡黃色會有一種晶瑩剔透的感覺，異常美麗。
