Climacium dendroides is commonly called Tree Moss. The name ‘Climacium dendroides’ already gives one of the characteristics of this moss: It looks like a small tree: Below with a more or less unbranched trunk, above with branches. What is concealed is the lying rhizome. The ‘trees’ of this moss can get rather high: The small wood on the picture consisted of about 10 cm high specimens.
