Japanese Bonsai - Azalea (杜鵑)

The Satsuki Azalea (皋月杜鵑) is native to Japan. It is an evergreen shrub with many branches, and its leaves are narrow, lance-shaped, and small with rounded edges. It blooms in May, the fifth month of the lunar calendar, which is why it's named Satsuki Azalea. The flowers are vivid and come in a wide variety of colors.

The plant has a compact, low-growing form with abundant branches, making it an excellent material for creating small bonsai. Due to its ornamental beauty and manageable size, the Satsuki Azalea is widely used for crafting intricate, miniature bonsai landscapes, perfect for both indoor and outdoor cultivation.
