印尼虎棲息於淡水河流、湖泊和水庫，成魚吃小蝦、魚苗，而幼魚常以浮游生物、螃蟹、昆蟲幼蟲為食。
印尼虎在人工飼養的環境下，不宜和體型相差懸殊的魚類混養。而且應該把它們飼養在至少60cm的缸體中。它們喜歡吃一些動物性餌料，比如紅蟲、小魚等都是印尼虎的最愛。
