當紅尾玻璃魚在水中遊弋時，它那豔麗的紅尾巴顯得格外引人注目。如果你仔細觀察紅尾玻璃魚的內臟與骨骼，你會發現有一條細細的血管從它的頭部一直貫穿到尾尖，血管的周圍還分佈著更細一倍的梳子一般的魚刺，這也就是紅尾玻璃魚的骨骼。它的腹部有一塊橢圓形的、非（半）透明的內臟，泛著淡淡的綠色螢光，它的腸子曲折而有規律地纏繞在橢圓形的內部。
