兇狠圓軸蟹（學名：Cardisoma carnifex）為地蟹科圓軸蟹屬的動物。分布於薩摩亞群島、塔希提、自印度太平洋區直到東非、臺灣島以及中國大陸的海南島等地，生活環境為海水，多見於沼澤地帶的洞穴中。地蟹科陸蟹的主要食物是落葉，營養成分極低，因此生長速率非常緩慢，所以兇狠圓軸蟹與其它地蟹科大型陸蟹都是成長非常緩慢且壽命極長的動物。一隻頭胸甲寬8公分的地蟹科陸蟹年齡估計是20歲左右，而近年透過植入動物體內晶片研究，得知地蟹科陸蟹的最大年齡是50歲。兇狠圓軸蟹的一生漫長且艱辛，面對如此特別的動物，我們如何能不肅然起敬呢！
