蜜蜂蝦身體間雜著四道黑白條紋，花紋的顏色的間隔並不明顯，好似蜜蜂身上的紋路而得名。
在水族箱內，應為蜜蜂蝦設置藏身之所。在水族箱內放置綁有莫斯的沉木有助於幼蝦躲藏免受攻擊，此外蜜蜂蝦在脫殼後自身所產生的腥味也容易使其受到同伴的攻擊，所以密植水草和放入適量的沉木是必須的。
