藍帆變色龍有點像短鯛，也與泰國鬥魚很相似，其主要區別在於藍帆變色龍的背鰭起源於頭部之後，臀鰭源於身體中間、腹鰭、尾鰭呈現三角型；鬥魚的背鰭源於背部中間，臀鰭源於源自喉部之後，腹鰭延長成絲狀並且尾鰭呈圓型。藍帆變色龍身體修長，體色會隨著心情變化而變化，變化顏色多樣，有深藍色、紫色、紅褐色等，故稱變色龍。
性情溫和，可與燈魚等小型魚混養。
成體尺寸：5CM左右
