尼格羅青鼠性格較大膽，喜歡在水流速度較快的地方衝浪，觀賞性極佳。野生尼青鼠在野外環境下屬於群居，因此建議多只飼養，可以觀賞其佇列表演。尼青鼠習性很溫和，可以和其他鼠魚混養，能夠有效的帶動其他鼠群遊的節奏。
