哥斯達黎加老虎尾原產於哥斯達黎加熱帶雨林。成年體長12～13厘米足展，建議使用稍微潮濕的泥炭、椰磚、粘土作為底材。哥斯達黎加老虎尾的3L幼體大約0.8厘米左右，通常成長到2厘米，就逐漸顯現出腹部上的“老虎斑紋”。
