銀粉背蕨分佈於尼泊爾、緬甸、印度北部、俄羅斯（西伯利亞）、蒙古、朝鮮、日本和中國。
銀粉背蕨性喜陽也耐陰，耐寒也耐旱，喜生長在疏鬆的鈣質土壤中，在中性或微酸性土壤中也能生長。 亦耐半陰，極耐乾旱，遇久旱不雨葉片便彎曲，稍有潮濕即舒展，但在中國北方地區要求要有強陽光照射，在偏南而稍陰的坡地也能適應。
