Also known as the Kimalila region in Tanzaniasutherland begonias , is a tuberous flowering perennial of the Begonia family, growing up to 0.5 m (20 in) long with fleshy pink stems ranging from 10 to 80 cm (4 to 31 in) long. The leaves are usually dark green with red veins and covered with short hairs on the underside. The leaves are asymmetrical in shape and have toothed edges. The flowers form pendulous panicles in summer, 20-26 mm (0.8-1.0 in) in diameter, usually orange or orange-red, with yellow anthers.

This plant is native to the southern highlands of Tanzania and is often found hanging on rocks or trees in moist, shady areas. It also exists in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Dormant in winter, without leaves, bulbs are shipped.
